Dave...on Dave.

"After I was born in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, doctors and nurses immediately wrapped me in a Terrible Towel. Little did I know that I would be fortunate enough to experience 6 Lombardi Trophies, with more to come in my lifetime.

Not long after, mom and dad decided that the sunny climate of Florida, greatly outweighed the bitter cold of Western Pennsylvania. So we loaded up the wood paneled station wagon, and moved 1250 miles south to Port Charlotte, Florida.

At 8 years of age, one really doesn’t get a lot of say so in life altering decisions.

My love for baseball had me trying out for the Port Charlotte Little League, and Charlotte County history was made, as I was drafted by the Major League team known as the Cubs. Never before, had a 9 year old skip past the Minor League, and go straight to the Majors. Playing with 11 and 12 year olds, was pretty intimidating at first, but my talent and personality brought me instant friendship, and a Port Charlotte Little Championship my first year with the Cubs. During my final season, I was fortunate enough to be chosen by the coaches for the All Star Team, and was the first Port Charlotte Little League Team to win a tournament game, defeating Naples, then losing to Bonita Springs.

This 16 year old senior at Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, decided to forego a career in baseball, for a career in radio. After auditioning, I was offered a full time on air position with WCCF. Upon graduation, I attended Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Fort Lauderdale, that led to my first job in Fort Myers with WMYR 1410 AM in 1977. In 1983, I was signed as a free agent by WINK 96.9 FM, that lasted an amazing 27 years. I’m now in my third season as the voice of the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena.
